Martha & Bo

September 2025
Sagaponack, New York

Martha and Bo reached out with a vision for an intimate autumn celebration that felt more like an “elevated weekend escape” than a traditional wedding. The couple sent me a photo of their family house in Sagaponack out on Long Island and described their many weekend visits as beachy, cozy, laid-back but classy, full of music and dancing, food and wine, and lots of fun. I was immediately sold.

For the color palette, we leaned into the faded blue of the Atlantic in early fall and the faded mauve of white hydrangeas when they start to turn with the coming of colder weather. We wanted the illustrations and the typography to reflect that thrown-together-yet-polished feeling; loose and gestural yet elegant.

Day-of stationery included a seating chart on a surfboard, communal dinner menus, and, in lieu of standard place cards, each guest was greeted at their seat with a personalized card featuring a hand-written note from the bride and groom. I can’t think of a more personal touch than that.
